Indian Railways has cancelled 123 trains and changed the route of 56 others in the wake of the tragic train accident in Odisha which claimed many lives. 10 trains were also stopped before reaching their destination while 14 trains had their timings changed. Among the cancelled trains are the Siyaldaah-Puri Duronto, Howrah-Chennai Mail, Kanyakumari-Howrah Express, and more. The Railways Minister has ordered a CBI investigation into the accident. The trains redirected include Tambaram-New Tinsukia Express, New Delhi-Puri Express, among others. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated on Sunday that the Railway Board has ordered a CBI investigation to examine the circumstances and administration information obtained in connection with the tragedy. Various politicians, including Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, are demanding accountability from the government. At the site of the accident in Balasore district, Vaishnav told reporters that the mishap occurred due to changes made in electronic interlocking and point machines. However, top railway officials in Delhi explained that the system is flawless and “safe even in failure.”
